Cobblestones, Climbs and Cake

In response to popular demand from Roundhouse clients, I am delighted to offer the opportunity to ride the great routes and climbs of the Tour de Yorkshire, Tour de France in Yorkshire and other classic Yorkshire cycle races. This has been made possible by co-operation with friend and fellow-cyclist, Francis Hannay. Francis is Road Captain at East Bradford Cycle Club (established in the late nineteenth century), as well as  a qualified Ride Leader and British Cycling cycle coach. He is also outdoor first aid trained and, like Peter Edwards, also has enhanced CRB status. Between them, Peter and Francis draw upon sixty years of collective cycling experience in Yorkshire.

Roundhouse History Tours can offer the opportunity to ride the classic routes of the great Yorkshire road races with a qualified cycle guide on the road at all times and a permanently-manned support vehicle. Exact tour routes can be followed, or bespoke tours can be built. Either way, clients can rest assured that all they have to do is focus on cycling and taking in the beautiful Yorkshire scenery. Roundhouse History Tours bring you an unrivalled knowledge of the Dales, Moors, Wolds, Eastern Pennines and coastal areas of Yorkshire. We will arrange accommodation - anything from self-catering through to five-star hotels, depending on the clients' wishes - and, if necessary, cycle hire.

Whether, as an individual or a group, you wish to simply take a day sampling the rigours of Dales climbing or take five days to really develop a feel for cycling in England's greatest county, Roundhouse History Tours will organise an exceptional package for you. If you wish to pitch yourself against the cobblestones of Trooper Lane in Halifax or the ferocity of Park Rash and Nab End in the Dales, then the Roundhouse team will lead the way. You will be satisfied in the knowledge that you, too, have conquered the gradients of Holme Moss, Blubberhouses, Robin Hood's Bay and Shibden Wall. These are amongst the finest cycling challenges England has to offer and Roundhouse provides the opportunity to enjoy them whilst staying in comfortable accommodation, set in the most picturesque surroundings.

It is not all blood, sweat and gears. Your guides also have a great knowledge of the best cycle cafes throughout the region and are firm believers that a ride can only ever be deemed enjoyable if accompanied by suitable, quality food stops.

Cost: £350 (+VAT) per day (This hires two quaified, experienced and knowledgeable cycle guides and a broom wagon).

Accommodation and any additional costs are calculated separately in accordance with clients' wishes.

The meanders of Lower Wharfedale. From here, thoughts turn either to a meal in Burnsall, heading North, or tea at Bolton Bridge to the South.
Just before the drop off Nab End. The views onto West Moor and Clowder make every pedal stroke of the punishing climb worthwhile.
Rolling into Scarborough first thing on a beautiful summer Saturday. The North Sea looks serene and breakfast calls.
Rest and be thankful...Taking on water after a bruising climb in baking heat from Settle. Pen Y Ghent forms the impressive backdrop.
